Goadby: St John the Baptist

Welcome to St John the Baptist's church, Goadby! We serve the people of Goadby which In reality is more of a hamlet than a village having a population of only around 43 people (2001 census).

Goadby sits within some very pretty rural countryside typical of this part of Leicestershire, approximately 11 miles south-east of Leicester and 8 miles north of Market Harborough. Our church of St John the Baptist is of 13th century origin although it was extended and renovated in the 19th century. The church sits in a large graveyard overlooking countryside and consists of a nave, chancel, trancepts north (with a small vestry of it) and south, and a bellcote.

Goadby is a chapelry of Billesdon Ancient Parish in Leicestershire. We are part of the Benefice of Coplow and the wider Launde Deanery Minster Community.

We have occasional services, more frequent services are held at the other churches within the Coplow Benefice (see the newsletter available via this page) and elsewhere within the Launde Deanery Minster Community (at Welcome to the Launde Deanery Minster Community Website – see Service Times tab).
