Many of our villages, homes and churches were seriously affected by Storm Babet, the rain came down so hard that our becks could not contain it. Widespread flooding caused damage across the Benefice

Leasingham St Andrew’s

On Friday afternoon a villager reported to the PCC that the Church was flooding. Within minutes of reaching there we found water pouring into the church. There was a real scramble to put as much as possible out of reach of the waters. However, carpets were ruined, water has made its way into electrical and heating systems. The arrival of the local Fire Brigade was met with an impossible task as there was nowhere for the water to be pumped away to. A full assessment of the damage will be undertaken, and restorative work carried out in due course. Several other properties near the Church have been flooded as well as school, community buildings.
