Storm Babet hits our Benefice‘The rains came down and the floods came up. But the house on the Rock stood firm’Many of our villages, homes and churches were seriously affected by Storm Babet, the rain came down so hard that our becks could not contain it. Widespread flooding caused damage across the BeneficeLeasingham St Andrew’sOn Friday afternoon a villager reported to the PCC that the Church was flooding. Within minutes of reaching there we found water pouring into the church. There was a real scramble to put as much as possible out of reach of the waters. However, carpets were ruined, water has made its way into electrical and heating systems. The arrival of the local Fire Brigade was met with an impossible task as there was nowhere for the water to be pumped away to. A full assessment of the damage will be undertaken, and restorative work carried out in due course. Several other properties near the Church have been flooded as well as school, community buildings.
It is with regret that the PCC and minister have decided to temporarily close St Andrew's due to extensive flooding of the building. To that end services will not be held at St Andrew's until we have ensured that the building is safe. Worship will continue within the Benefice at St Andrew's Cranwell Village and All Saints Ruskington both services start at 11am every Sunday. Please check as we hold Benefice services on the Sundays where there is a 5th Sunday. The next one is at All Saints on the 29th of October at 11am.We thank you in advance for your patience and we will keep the ACNY page updated. With every blessing Rev Al and the PCC
