Alleluia! Christ is Risen! The hallowed call is raised to the faithful. The response? A resounding He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia! It was certainly resounding at the Benefice Dawn Service and at the Benefice Eucharist on Easter Day. I pray it was for you wherever you might have celebrated this wonderful day, whether at Church or at Home watching a service on the TV. I cannot really put into words how I feel on Easter morning, the hollowness of Good Friday afternoon and Holy Saturday, slip away to be replaced by the wonder of our Risen Lord. The joy of being joined on a “not so early dawn service” by so many people filled with the wonder of God who has redeemed us in such a beautiful way was wonderful. Holy Week was something really special this year, with services every day, across the Diocese and Benefice, from morning and evening prayer to the Chrism Service at the Cathedral, Praise Services, Veneration and Tenebrae. Culminating in the joy of the Easter Day Eucharist. The most moving service of Holy Week, for me, was Maundy Thursday when so many joined together to witness Jesus’s last night through the washing of feet, the Eucharist and the Watch, when everyone stayed together long after the service. I pray that the whole of this Easter season, and beyond, will help us to remember every day the price paid for our salvation through the Cross and the promise of eternal life through our Lord’s glorious resurrection. Alleluia! Christ is Risen! (You know what to say!!). Reverend Al.
