You may have heard or noticed that a large branch from one of the ash trees near the porch was 

found collapsed early on Friday morning. 

Although it was fortuitous that no damage was done to the church or the war memorial, sadly, 

the tree which was struggling in the drought was also found to be suffering from ash dieback. 

Ash dieback is a fungal disease which particularly attacks the native common ash tree.

The tree was made safe with the support of the Parish Council and North Lincolnshire Council

and we offer our wholehearted thanks for their speedy intervention. 

It has yet to be determined if the tree will ever regrow. 

The second ash tree close-by has also been assessed, and an application will be made to 

reduce this tree down in size to help to preserve it and keep it safe because 

it is also suffering from the same disease.
