About Us

St Helen’s church is a Grade 2* Iisted building that was constructed in stages during the 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th centuries with major restoration in 1871-1872 by the Fox family, who owned Girsby Manor at that time. The church has gradually been adapted to serve the local area as a community centre while remaining open for regular worship. The north side pews have been removed to provide an open area for tables and chairs, a small servery and a disabled lavatory. A recent grant has allowed the updating of the heating to make the church building usable all year round for different events.

There is an active 'Friends' charity which raises funds to maintain and improve the church for its use as a community centre. The charity is registered with the Charity Commission, under reference number 1199506.
