After seven long years, work began on June 2nd to improve the space in our church, making it accessible to all. Steps will be replaced with ramps, Wooden doors replaced with automatic glass doors, and the central nave area will be furnished with beautiful comfortable seats which can be moved for weddings and funerals. The basic kitchen will be replaced to allow us to be able to offer hospitality to all, and we hope to be able to hold more community events in this fabulous new space. All this work has only been possible because of a legacy we received, from a very kind and generous lady Marion Green, for which we are extremely grateful. We are also seeking grant funding to enable us to complete the works.More details are on the Opening the Doors leaflet attached. We are looking forward to completing the work, and welcoming everybody back into our beautiful church!..
We were delighted to see so many families join us for the annual Easter Egg Hunt around the village. Starting at the church, the children had to find the eggs, and look for symbols on the back of the egg to record on their sheet. Back to the Church Hall for a code sheet to reveal a secret message! The Easter Bunny joined us to hand out chocolate eggs, the children had refreshments and were able to take part in lots of craft activities. Some songs, and entertainment from our vicar rounded off a wonderful family afternoon full of joy. Thank you to everybody who took part and of course to the helpers.Happy Easter!
We were delighted to host the Confirmation Service for 25 people from local churches, with Bishop Geoff. Ten of the confirmees were from our own church of St Mary. We are delighted to see so many people moving deeper into their faith. It was an amazing night and God's spirit was very present, with a service full of joy.
