Once a month we show a film in the church hall. We provide tea, coffee and homemade cake at 6.30pm and the films start at 7.00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and we invite a donation of £5 per person to cover the cost of refreshments and a very modest contribution to the upkeep of the church hall and the equipment.
The films are all modern and are chosen with care so as to avoid those with scenes depicting gratuitous violence or graphic sexual conduct, and (which is becoming more difficult in current times) the use of foul language.
Many of our screenings are films based on real events but some are comedies, thrillers, historical dramas or romances.
In order not to contravene our licence to show films to a church audience we cannot publish the titles of the films beyond our church, but if you ring 01704 560518 and speak to Christine or Stuart you can be told the tiles of our chosen films from now until July.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Birkdale: St John is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Liverpool’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [Stuart Baker 01704 560518] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [Andy Holmes 07940 378139]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
