Baptisms at St Peter’s

Baptism (sometimes referred to as christening) is a formal  ‘initiation’ and welcome into the world-wide church, represented by a local church with which you have a relationship. It is a gift from God and a sacrament, or a sign of grace. We are delighted you are considering baptism and we'll do our best at St Peter's to support this step on your faith journey.

To hold a Baptism at St Peter’s you must either:
● live in our parish (put your postcode into the church finder on A Church Near You to check).
● have a close pastoral connection with St Peter’s or regularly attend services here.

If you do not live in the parish and do not have a pastoral connection, we suggest that you contact your local parish church, as it is important that the Baptism takes place in a church community that can nurture your faith and welcome you to become part of its community.

However, if you still desire to have a baptism at St Peter’s, we can arrange this, though Rev James will need to seek permission from the clergy in the parish you do live in and they have the legal right to refuse.

If you’d like to arrange a Baptism at St Peter’s, or find out whether you live in the parish please contact the Team Vicar, Rev James Taylor on 07341 940 975 or or email: [email protected]

When contacting Rev James via email, please mention ‘St Peter’s’ in your message.
