Fundraiser launched for vital Winwick St Oswald’s Church repairs

St Oswald’s Church in Winwick is appealing to members of the community to fund repairs to the church hall roof and pipework – with an initial target set at £10,000.

Independent ward councillor Stuart Mann, in support of the fundraiser, stressed the historical significance of the building.

“This beautiful church needs our support more than ever.”

The church, alongside its usual weekly services, holds events such as warm and welcome coffee mornings every other Thursday, which are open to all members of the community.

Reverend Martin Cox appealed to members of the community to back the appeal and support the church.

He said: “In previous years, members of St Oswald’s Church here in Winwick, with the help of the community, have spent many hours and much energy raising a considerable amount of money.

“Some £300,000 was raised to repair the church roof to enable people to gather for worship and significant life events in the beautiful and historic sacred space.

“As the church hall and the church are used by many different community groups and people, we are launching a crowdfunder so that members of the wider Winwick community and beyond can contribute to the cost of these essential repairs.

“All funds received will go directly to St Oswald’s Church and its buildings. Thank you for your generosity as you help us to reach our target.”
