Heritage Open Days at St Oswald's Church Winwick, Warrington

Saturday 12th September 10am to 4pm

A chance to look around this beautiful iconic building steeped in history. Refreshments will be served in the church hall throughout the day.
On Saturday:
The Heritage Open Weekend will be officially opened by Revd Martin Fuller at 11am. Then followed by Andrew Abram from the Battle of Winwick Society.
At 2pm, in the church hall, there will be a talk by Eileen Monies, a guide from Lyme Park. Her talk will be on the interesting and sad story of Ellen Legh (nee Turner), her memorial and the connection of St. Oswald’s Church with Lyme Park.

On Sunday:
Doors open at 12pm and closes 3pm. The Battle of Winwick Society will be giving a guided walk across the battlefield site at 1pm.

Walk Across 3 Parishes including St. Oswald’s Well

Friday 2nd October - Walk across 3 Parishes including St. Oswald’s Well.

Please come and join us on our walk. The walk is approximately 7 miles but you are welcome to join us at any stage of the journey, if you wish to.

Below are the approximate times we will be setting off from the 3 churches:

10:30 Walkers with cars gather at Newchurch to take some cars to St. Oswald’s.

10:45am Assemble at Newchurch Car Park to set off for 11am.

12pm Arrive at Christ Church, Croft and have lunch, you need to bring your own picnic!

12:45pm Walk to St. Oswald’s Church.

2:30pm Walk from St. Oswald’s Church to St. Oswald’s Well.**
Prayers and a blessing at the Well, then walk back to St. Oswald’s.

Please remember to bring your own lunch and wear stout footwear!

**St Oswald’s Well is in a field and therefore on uneven terrain.

Our Messy Harvest is on Saturday 3rd October from 10am to 12pm. Learn about Harvest through various activities, whilst having lots of fun meeting up with others. We will finish with a very short Church Service followed by light refreshments.
