St Oswald's

St Oswald's is a friendly church and we would love to welcome you. The church building stands at the centre of the village of Winwick on raised ground, welcoming all who pass through. There is evidence that the Christian faith has been here for over 1,000 years and continues today. The Church building is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the church is an integral part of the area's history and community.

On the 29/02/2024, Reverend Martin Cox was appointed Priest-in-Charge at St. Oswald’s Church, Winwick, plus Rector of Christ Church, Croft and Newchurch Parish Church, Culcheth.

Reverend Martin is also Area Dean for Winwick, covering 14 Parishes.

Joint services are held at:

Christ Church, Lady Lane, Croft, WA3 7AU

Newchurch Parish Church, Church Lane, Culcheth, WA3 5ET

In 2025, St. Oswald’s Church along with 11 other churches in the Winwick Deanery voted to opt in for Fit for Mission. (FfM) This means working together will free up time and resources to grow the faith in the community and help to make churches more sustainable in the future. This still relies on hard work and commitment from clergy and volunteers.

On 1st February 2026, Winwick Deanery launched the “acting as if” phase for FfM.
