A Vicar's Swan Song - Reasons for Believing
Please have a look at my new and final YouTube series, Reasons for Believing. Headline topics:
• Wed 3 August – Origins
• Wed 10 August – Rationality
• Wed 17 August – Jesus
• Wed 24 August – Seeing Life Whole
• Wed 31 August – The Alternatives Are Rubbish!
This is something I am passionate about! Christians have become mentally flabby! We have failed to challenge the totally unjustifiable view that faith and reason are irreconcilable opposites. We’re worried about explaining our faith to a relativist age in case it makes us look arrogant, so we keep a low profile, we don’t tell the world why we believe, and we end up confirming their suspicions that faith is for stupid and irrational people.
After 31 August Virtual Church (YouTube services I have been broadcasting since the pandemic started to keep in touch with isolated church members) will come off the air so I can focus on getting St Andrew’s and St Michael’s ready for my departure. So yes, this is my last online shot before I retire in October. Even if you have never followed Virtual Church, please check out Reasons for Believing. And if anyone wants to challenge my views I am more than happy to set up a meeting in the Perseverance and have that discussion!

Links are posted on, and will continue to be available on, St Andrew's Facebook page and WhatsApp group, also available from St Michael's webpage http://www.stmichaels-horton.org/

Safeguarding

The parish of Horton is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
