This is a lively and popular Mass (Eucharist) with Sunday School. Our worship uses the Church of England's 'Common Worship' resources. The language is dignified but easy to follow, which is good because we have worshippers from around the world.

Our services and our theology are in the liberal catholic tradition. Our priests wear robes, we use incense to represent our prayer and worshippers light candles at the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Readings and sermons follow the Common Worship Lectionary: lay people read the Bible Readings, serve at the Altar, lead the intercessions and are occasionally invited to preach.

The sermon is usually by the priest taking the service, most often the Vicar, Fr. Tom Pyke who has been at Christ Church since 2008. Sermons are based around the Gospel reading, and teach us how to know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit better, and how to apply Christian teaching to daily life.

We use a lot of music at Christ Church - we have a Director of Music, a small enthusiastic choir and a congregation that loves to sing. We use the New English Hymnal, Hymns Old and New (New Anglican Edition) and Hymns Ancient and Modern New Standard and other resources e.g. from Taizé and Iona. Hymns, psalms, responses, introits and anthems are accompanied on piano or by our large and beautiful organ.

We have an occasional All-the-Church-Family Service where the liturgy is more informal. The address often uses our AV screen and projector. We try to livestream all our services on YouTube and on Facebook, but this depends on the availability of a trained volunteer (past livestreams are available on the link below).

This is a simple said service of prayers and readings using Common Worship. We use a side-chapel of the church. This is often the service people try first when they are considering Christ Church.
