New Vicar for Christ Church

Vacancy at Christ Church

The Revd Michael Burley retired as Vicar and left Christ Church on 31st March last year - since then the post has been vacant.

The PCC are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd James Bunyan. James is currently a curate at St. Michael’s Fulwell.

He will be licensed to Christ Church on 8th July.

We look forward to welcoming James, his wife Lois and their two young daughters to Christ Church and to the community of Staines-upon-Thames.

James was born and raised within a Christian family in Salisbury, and after studying history at Royal Holloway University of London, worked for a parish for two years. He then worked with the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship for 6 years, serving Christian Unions in London and supervising a large team of staff and volunteers. He studied for his MA while training for ministry at St Mellitus College London and has been serving his curacy at St Michael’s Fulwell, part of a team that reopened and redeveloped the church building to serve the community of Teddington and a growing congregation. James is married to Lois and they have two daughters, Galilee and Bethany.

James says: ‘I feel honoured to be called to Christ Church Staines. Each time we have visited, our family has felt warmly welcomed and increasingly at home. We are excited to begin a new chapter in Spelthorne, a little daunted at the responsibility and grateful for all those who will be supporting us at Christ Church and beyond. My prayer for our community is for growth! I long to see our church family grow in joy, as we learn more of God’s love for us, to grow in capacity, able to serve our community in new ways, and to grow in number, as more and more people come to know of Jesus’s goodness! Please join me in praying for all this.’
