Ash Wednesday service with Imposition of Ashes

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Paul's Church Blackley
Address
St Paul's Church Blackley, St Paul Blackley Victoria Avenue Blackley Manchester M9 6RA, M9 6RA, United Kingdom

We gather on Ash Wednesday at the beginning of Lent — a day of penitence and self-examination. The ashes remind us that we are dust, and to dust we shall return. They call us to repentance, and to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

During the service, those who wish may come forward to receive the sign of the cross in ash. As the words are spoken, we are reminded of our mortality, and of our need for God’s mercy.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Blackley: St Andrew is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).

Our Diocese of Manchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Dianne McCann, or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor through the Diocesan website.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
