About Us
Celebrating God’s love for everyone - revealed to us in Jesus Christ - wherever we are on the journey of faith! As an Inclusive Church we do not discriminate - we welcome all.
As an Eco Church we offer fairly traded, quality refreshments: tea and fresh ground coffee (with other beverages quite often available) and plenty of fresh baked cakes - after Sunday service and at other events in the week. We have great traditions of Choral Music - along with a Conacher Organ - and Bell Ringing. Both Choir and Ringers welcome new members.
We join our Christian family from Churches Together in Saddleworth to celebrate Whit Friday and we host the annual Friezland Band Contest. Running for 40 years, this focuses on Youth, University, and Third and Fourth Section as well as Scratch bands. A highlight of the year!
As well as our famous hospitality, we serve our community by hosting different groups and events in both the church and the church hall (with licensed bar), e.g. The Monday Mondays, Pennine Singers, Saddleworth Music Festival and other concerts.
Our charitable support includes regular contributions to Oldham Food Bank, MacMillan Cancer Support and Dr Kershaw's Hospice - among many others.
The building (est. 1850) provides a beautiful setting for important landmarks in life such baptisms and weddings, as well as special services throughout the year: Advent, Christmas (Crib, Christingle, Carols, Midnight Mass, Christmas Day) Holy Week, Easter Day, Harvest, All Souls and Remembrance. At the end of life, it offers a dignified and peaceful atmosphere in which to say farewell to loved ones.
Google Review: “A welcoming inclusive church, particularly friendly to young families, host to the cultural musical life of the town, of high historic status, beautifully embellished with stunning needlework, a beacon of spirituality and Christian outreach.”
Christ, Community and Cake!
