Blanchland Abbey

We are a small, friendly church in a large building steeped in history, originally founded as a monastery for a community of Premonstratensian canons. We welcome local residents as well as visitors, and our congregation often includes the odd dog or two. We have a service of Holy Communion on the first and third Sunday of every month at 9.30 am. The church is also open every day, throughout the day.

Everyone is very welcome – please do come and join us.

Safeguarding

Like the Church of England as a whole, we as a parish are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies (https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/PromotingSaferChurchWeb.pdf); our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Ursula Martell, who can be reached on [email protected]. The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Casework Advisor (DSA), Jill Thirlaway, who can be contacted on: [email protected]. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
