Accessibility

There is no On Site parking , but there is limited parking on Angerford Avenue ( On double yellow lines - for disabled drivers). Any people parking though are asked to be considerate to the residents on the avenue.

Access to the main part of the church is level from the pavement. There is a simple lift to the mezannine floor.

We have double Glass Doors into the church and also into the main Worship space and there are special facilities in the easy access toilet adjacent to the front glass double doors

There is a small wheelchair which is sited in the tower bottom , which could be used on site if requested in advance.

There is a small lift to allow access to the Mezzanine floor upstairs from the entrance porch.( level access)

We have a small area in a corner of the Main Worship space , when the building is open , which includes a small number of chairs , and a votif ( framework) and a small number of candles which can be used for individual's prayers.

In our main kitchen , downstairs we normally have non-dairy milk.

There are always some gluten free biscuits around! Gluten free Communion wafers are also available, please ask someone when you arrive in church.

Is by the main door as you enter the church , on the left hand side.

We have an induction loop fitted , which works in the main Worship space ( The Nave ).

Large print hymnbooks and some service cards are available, please ask.

In the easier access toilet by the main door.

The nearest defibrillator, is approximately 5 minutes back from the church - on Norton Lees Lane / Derbyshire Lane , outside the Cross Scythes Public House.


Our Building

St.Paul's Church is not a Listed Building - it was comissioned in November 1877.

On Wednesday & Friday mornings from 10am until 12 noon

There are two separate areas where we have stained glass windows - the major one is a beautiful window behind and above the high altar in the Chancel. The second is on the opposite end of the church , which following re-ordering is now visible from the mezzanine floor . An old photograph has been uploaded showing the window , after the old organ had been removed , and before the building work had started.

Dedicated female, male and easier access toilets are available.

We don't have permanent facilities , but on Tuesday mornings , from 9am to 12 noon , we are running Coffee & Cake in our Meeting place - so you can come along for a drink and a chat. We provide


Music and Worship

We only have one bell at the top of our tower , but it is rung a few minutes before the start of our Sunday services. There is no Bell Ringing team.

We have a digital organ which is used at least twice each month and the sound is comparable with a pipe organ.

St Paul's Worship musicians have guitars, drums and pianos ( both digital and manual) and an organ. They play music twice each month. Other services have recorded music on a Powerpoint to sing to - usually with Words on screens.


Groups, Courses and Activities

St Paul's has three or four Home Groups where people meet together for bible study, prayer and fellowship. Do ask for information.

St Paul's Church has community events from time to time Any event should be displayed on this A Church Near You site , as well as other Social Media and on our own Notice Board at the front of the church, by the Bus Stop on Norton Lees Lane.

St Paul's Centre has a number of community and exercise groups meeting each week. Please call the Church and Centre office (0114 255 0144) for more information.

On Friday mornings , in the meeting place ( during the community pantry time) there is a representative available for advice about finances.

There is a community run group each Monday morning ( term time ) between 10 & 12 noon. Search on facebook for "St Paul's Tots Baby and Toddler Group" for further information.


Help for Visitors

We have pamphlets available to take away , which provide a basic history of St.Paul's Church and some of its contents. A few will be in the pamphlet storage in the entrance porch.


Other Features

We are a Fairtrade church and promote the use of fairtrade tea and coffee.

We run a Community Food Pantry - on Wednesdays & Friday mornings between 9:30 am on Wednesday & 10am on Friday - finishing on both days at 12 Noon.

We have various rooms for hire. Further information can be obtained initially by phoning 0114 2554441.

We have registered as an Eco Church and are currently working towards our Bronze Award
