REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY COMMUNITY ACT OF REMEMBRANCE 2026

If it were possible, we would all prefer to have our civic act of remembering at the Rawmarsh, High

Street, War Memorial, however, after several meetings between Councillors of Rawmarsh, St Mary’s Church,

and the British Legion, it has been agreed by all that the service will be hosted at St Mary’s Church.

Our collective desire is to be able to continue to honour the fallen, as we have done for many years,

in a way that is safe, accessible, and dignified. We believe that it is now no longer possible to do this

at the War Memorial but want to assure everyone that the service taking place within the church will be

the same as previous years, but will include a roll of honour, songs, and a formal procession.

Our civic service of remembering will take place within St Mary’s Church, Rawmarsh, at 10:30 AM .

The service will be led by Rev’d Sami Ellmore, and other community leaders, for all people

of Rawmarsh & Parkgate – of all faiths or none.

There will be a smaller, separate gathering at the War Memorial on Armistice Day at 11 AM .
