Announcement made by the Reverend Canon Eleanor Robertshaw 23/11/25 It is with mixed emotions that I make the following announcement to you all. The Bishop of Lincoln has offered, and I have accepted the role of the Archdeacon of Stow and Lindsey, in the Diocese of Lincoln. While I am very excited to see where God is leading me in this new post, it is with immense sadness that I leave the wonderful Parish of Great Snaith and the Diocese of Sheffield. The past twelve years working and living in the Parish of Great Snaith has literally been the privilege of my life. When you begin life in a parish, you arrive in a new place, knowing no one. But over the months and years you get to know people and communities and before you know it, you are doing what God calls Priests to do, love the people and the parish. Making the decision to leave and seek a new post has been so hard to make, and please be assured that my decision is no reflection on anyone here, I could have stayed until I retired! However, I have felt for a while that God has been nudging me to explore a different challenge and that it is time for a new Priest with fresh eyes to come and lead the parish in the next phase of its mission. As a parish we have experienced so many things together, not least the dreadful floods of 2020 and the Pandemic. But what I have loved throughout my ministry here is how our communities across the parish support one another in good times and bad. It has been a huge privilege to walk with families at times of joy with Baptisms and Weddings and in times of sadness with Funerals. I have met so many wonderful people in this parish and beyond and while I will soon leave you, you will always be in my heart, and I will be grateful for all the things I have learnt from you. And so, to practicalities. My final working day in The Parish of Great Snaith will be Christmas Day, however, I will have a final service with you all on Sunday 4th of January 10.45am in Snaith Priory. Everyone is very welcome to attend, and I would love to see you. We will move to Market Rasen where the Archdeacons house is located at some point in the first or second week of January. My role as Archdeacon of Stow and Lindsey will begin on Monday 26th January 2026 with a service of collation at All Saints, Gainsborough. Once again, anyone who would like to attend is most welcome. In the meantime, I am committed to finishing well and making sure that everything is in place to make the transition as smooth as it can be. While it will probably a while until a new Vicar is appointed, you are blessed to have a wonderful ministry team in Chris, Peter H, Keith, Peter W and Graham. We also have great Church Wardens who will guide and support you all. There will be time for goodbyes, but in closing this I want to thank you all for your love and support of me and Paul over our twelve years here. Please be assured of our continued prayers and love for you all. With much love Eleanorhttps://www.lincoln.anglican.org/news/eleanor-robertshaw-announced-as-the-new-archdeacon-of-stow-and-lindsey/
