We’re delighted that you’re considering baptism (also called christening) for your child. Your little one is precious to you, and precious to God. In baptism, you and your child’s godparents make a special promise to nurture them in the knowledge of God’s love and to encourage them as they grow in faith within the life of the Church.
We hope your child’s baptism will be a joyful and memorable celebration, and the beginning of a long, happy relationship with Holy Trinity & St Oswald's Church. If you’d like more information or have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch - we’re here to help.

Holy Trinity & St Oswald

Welcome to Holy Trinity & St Oswald, Finningley - a warm and welcoming church right in the heart of our community. Nestled in the peaceful village of Finningley, our church is more than just an historic building; it’s a place where people of all ages and walks of life come together to worship, connect, and grow.

Here, we combine tradition with heart. The service is grounded in the rich heritage of our Norman-era architecture, while our music and worship style reflects a caring, inclusive spirit - welcoming both long-time churchgoers and newcomers alike. Our congregation includes families, older members, young people, and children, and we love having everyone with us.

Accessibility is important to us: the building has level access, a hearing loop, and fully accessible toilets. We welcome all visitors, including assistance dogs.

When you step through our doors, you’ll find a place that’s open, friendly, and rooted in community. Whether you're looking to explore faith, find fellowship, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of reflection, we’d be delighted to welcome you. Feel free to come along - we hope to see you soon.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Finningley is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Sheffield’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Mr David Elvin on 07851 737616 or email: [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (see oink below). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
