St James Church is to remain open for private prayer

8 Jan 2021, 4:45 p.m.

Our PCC have thought long and hard about this, and although we would like to keep the church open for Sunday worship we do not feel that it is wise to do so, in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases nationwide and the Government's latest advice.  However, the Church will be open every day of the week between 10 am and 4 pm for private prayer and meditation. We have carried out a revised Risk Assessment, and we believe that we have put sufficient measures in place, to ensure that we are all safe. We do our best to make the Church as safe as we can, and are really encouraged to see how much it is used; for example, the numbers of candles being lit by visitors as they take time to enjoy the peace and quiet of St James’ and come for quiet meditation and prayer.

When visiting the Church, please note the following. At each side in the porch, we have put the Test & Trace QR Code, so if you have the App on your smart phone, you can open the App on your phone and point it to the QR Code. Don’t forget to use the sanitiser, wear your mask, and keep your distance! Anyone who visits the Church who later suspects that they may have COVID-19, should phone Brian Archbold on 07850 414158.

We remind people who are clinically extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 to stay at home as much as possible and observe social distancing guidance, and we strongly discourage them from attending church in person during this time.

Instead of attending church physically, we invite you to attend church on-line. You can go to St Mary's, East Leake ( to log on to their services.
