Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and, at St James, there will be no usual 9:30 am service that day. The Remembrance Sunday service at 10:45 am will be led by The Revd Canon Michael Knight, and wreaths will be laid by Derek Astill on behalf of our church and by Cllr Stuart Sleight on behalf of Normanton on Soar Parish Council. Glenn Martin has again kindly agreed to read the Roll and Act of Homage. Collection will be taken for British Legion and Combat Stress.

For the first Sunday of Advent, we will be welcoming The Revd Chris Taylor to lead our service of Holy Communion.

Loughborough Concert Band are coming to St James Church to perform a Christmas Concert, with mulled wine and mince pies being served in the interval. Many thanks to Richard Glazebrook and Gaslow for sponsoring the concert this year. If you were at last year’s concert by Loughborough Concert Band, I’m sure that you’ll want to put the date in your diary! And there will be two or three carols for you to join in! No tickets – just turn up; and donations to the Church Improvement Fund will be welcome.

Our Carol Service will be led by The Revd Canon Michael Knight, followed by seasonal refreshments at the Boat Club. The Mayor of Rushcliffe has already indicated that he will be pleased to attend and, towards the end of the service, we will present a cheque to our Charity of the Year, Stroke Research at the University of Nottingham. There will be the usual service of Holy Communion at 9:30 am, also led by The Revd Canon Michael Knight.

We welcome the pupils and teachers of Normanton on Soar Primary School, together with parents, grandparents, friends and members of the village community to a Christingle Service in St James Church. The service will be led by The Revd Chris Taylor, who lives in the village.

Following the success of our August Evening Prayer services with music and poetry and prayers, we will be holding a similar style of service. Half an hour of peace and reflection on almost the shortest day of the year!
