We are now able to hold services again, and each week we have enjoyed hearing the bells being rung before the services – so, many thanks to Shirley Barnett and her team of volunteer ringers. It all seems rather strange to be meeting in the Nave instead of the Chancel, to be socially distanced, and wearing face masks… and no coffee and chat afterwards! Not at all what we are used to; but St James has seen 900 years of history and this is a bit more to live through: if only the stones could speak! However, from Sunday 25 July, we shall be able to sing hymns quietly, even though face masks will still be worn. We continue to monitor and follow the guidance for our safety and, as we all know, it can quickly change one way or another. It's good to be able to meet together.
