Walk with the Cross

Please join us on Good Friday this year for some hymns , readings and a gentle walk with the cross around the town centre to witness to our faith in Jesus Christ.

We will start at St Mary the virgin Church , Church square HP20 2JJ at 10 am and do the same walk around the town as we did last year. We aim to finish up back at St Mary’s around 11.00/11.15 where there will be refreshments of tea / coffee and hot cross buns.
Everyone very welcome, including dogs on leads ! We take a gentle pace for anyone who can only walk at a slower rate so we can all keep together.

Please forward and spread the word amongst your congregations so all can be involved.
We also welcome anyone who would like to take a turn in carrying the heavy wooden cross.

If you would like to come please be at the church promptly at 10am so we can start on time or just a few minutes before.

Services at St Mary’s

We know that attending any Church Service for the first time can be scary, so we like to do our best to make you feel relaxed and at home. Here's our normal pattern of Sunday Services:

Sunday 8am Said Eucharist (BCP) - A Service that uses the Book of Common Prayer (loved for its older language), but without any hymns to sing. There is a short talk. Books are provided.

Sunday 10am Sung Eucharist - A Service that includes hymns to sing, and a talk. You'll be given a sheet as you arrive, with prayers and text that we all say together during the Service.

First Sunday of the Month - 10am is an All-Age Eucharist - adults and children together for the whole Service. Second and Fourth Sunday of the Month - 10am we have Sunday School for the children.

There's tea and coffee served after the 10am Service. Please stay and let us get to know you better!
