The Society of Mary, whilst being one of the Catholic Societies of the Church of England, has members in churches and countries all over the world.
The objects of the Society are:
to love and honour Mary.
to spread devotion to her in reparation for past neglect and misunderstanding and in the cause of Christian Unity
to take Mary as a model in purity, personal relationships, and family life.
The Meeting is part of a regular schedule of mass services (and meetings) for the Barnsley Cell of The Society of Mary members (and non-members), which aims to hold regular Cell Meetings around the Barnsley Area, with members from churches within the Diocese of Leeds and the Diocese of Sheffield.
