Sunday Services
We are two parishes but one community, and we alternate Sunday Mass between Christ Church, Staincliffe and St John the Evangelist, Carlinghow.
To find out which church is hosting this coming Sunday, please check our current Notice Sheet or get in touch with us directly.
The Solemn Parish Mass
Our Sunday Mass is a family-friendly and accessible service where we welcome everyone to worship God in the beauty of holiness.
The liturgy is traditionally Catholic and follows a "High Church" pattern, including:
The Liturgy of the Word: Scriptural readings and a homily to guide our reflection.
The Eucharist: The celebration and administration of Holy Communion, which serves as the climax of our worship.
Ceremony & Music: The use of incense, bells, and plainchant, accompanied by traditional hymns and beautiful vestments.
Marian Devotion: The service concludes with the Angelus (or the Regina Coeli during the Easter season).
Fellowship
Worship does not end with the final blessing. We warmly invite you to stay after the service for refreshments, delicious biscuits, and a chance to socialise with the community.
