It’s December 1802. It is a big decision to say, ‘Yes’ to a marriage proposal. It is even a bigger decision to refuse the offer next morning. Especially if you are Jane Austen. This is the story of those twelve hours.

The performance will last about an hour and will be followed by tea and cake in the Village Hall (donations welcome)

A monologue with music played by Michael Kenning and Paul Wright

Jane Austen will be played by Shona Gruzelier

A very warm welcome from the St Nicholas community of Steventon.

Our church is one of six in the benefice of Overton - North Waltham, Steventon, Ashe, Deane, Laverstoke and Overton. We welcome you to attend our services or just visit the church and soak in the atmosphere that Jane Austen would have recognised, when she lived in Steventon.
