This group offers care, friendship and support to people who have recently been bereaved. We meet fortnightly at the Community Centre on Thursdays at 2pm.

When meeting in person, we begin with drinks and cake and time to catch up with one another, and then spend some time chatting as a group. We are very relaxed and informal - there is no charge, although donations are welcome towards the cost of running the group. Occasionally we go out for lunch together instead of our usual meeting.

“Can’t wait to get here.”
“I enjoy the lovely chats and the friendliness."
“If anyone is sad at times, everyone understands.”
“We give each other moral support.”

Newcomers are always welcome - please do come with a family member of friend if you wish.

Welcome to our church's A Church Near You page!

The Church of the Good Shepherd (ChoGS to us) is based in Cox Green Community Centre. Whilst we may not have a beautiful church building we enjoy being a church at the heart of our community.

Week by week, as we meet together, we are reminded that the Church is not about the building but the people, us – the living stones of Christ’s Church. During the week our church is present amidst all the hustle and bustle of the Community Centre, and the many groups that meet there. In contrast, on Sunday mornings, and at other special times in the Christian calendar, we have the Community Centre to ourselves, with all the many facilities available to us. We hope that those who come here, or visit us, find a vibrant and welcoming church community where they can make friends and feel at home; a church where we seek to support one another in good times and bad, journeying in faith together.

The Church of The Good Shepherd, Cox Green, is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, PSO. The Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
