Holy Week at Christ Church

Palm Sunday – Worship Together
We begin our Holy Week journey from Palm Sunday to the Cross with a lively, welcoming time of worship as we remember Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem and lift our voices in praise to Him as our King. We’ll stay together as a community family for the whole service, starting with a short all‑age video that brings the Triumphal Entry to life and gives us a shared starting point for the morning. Children will have themed activities at their tables that connect with the same story, adding colour and energy to the room as we sing, pray, and worship together. The whole morning has an upbeat, hopeful feel as we step into this important week as a community rooted in Jesus and in one another.

Tuesday – Praying for Our Community
On Tuesday we pause to pray over our local community, holding before God the streets, homes, and people around us as we continue our Holy Week journey. Our prayers will focus on the events of the week ahead—Jesus’ path to the Cross and the hope of Easter morning—and on how His love speaks into the real lives and needs of our neighbourhood. It’s a simple, heartfelt time of prayer and reflection, asking God to move in our community and to help us carry His peace, compassion, and hope into the days leading up to Good Friday and Easter.

Maundy Thursday – Passover Meal & Communion
To celebrate Passover, we gather with a bring‑and‑share meal, welcoming all ages around the table as one community family. As the meal unfolds, we’ll pause to hear the story of the first Passover—remembering God’s rescue, faithfulness, and the hope that runs through the whole biblical story. In the midst of our shared food and conversation, we will also break bread and share Communion together, marking the night Jesus washed His friends’ feet and gave us this meal of remembrance. It’s a gentle, reflective evening with space for community, storytelling, and worship as we draw closer to Good Friday.

Good Friday – Three Hours at the Cross
On Good Friday we gather for Three Hours at the Cross, a quiet and meaningful space to reflect on Jesus’ journey to Calvary. The time is split into three one‑hour blocks, and you’re welcome to stay for all of it or come for the hour that suits you. The first two hours offer simple, reflective space to ponder the Cross—using art, music, and Scripture to help us slow down and sit with the weight and wonder of the story. In the third hour we come together as a gathered community to share Communion, remembering Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope it brings to our lives and our neighbourhood.

Waiting for Easter – Holding On to Hope
After Good Friday we wait. We sit in the quiet of Saturday, holding the tension between the Cross and the hope we know is coming. As a community we wait for Easter morning—Resurrection Sunday—when we’ll gather to break open the Good News and lift our voices in praise. In the stillness of this in‑between day, we look forward with expectation, ready to celebrate the risen Jesus and the hope He brings to our lives and our neighbourhood.

Resurrection Sunday – The Risen Lord
On Easter morning we gather in amazement and wonder as we celebrate the risen Lord. Resurrection Sunday is the moment everything changes—the darkness lifts, hope breaks through, and the Good News comes alive among us. We’ll come together as a community family to rejoice, to praise, and to share in the joy of Jesus’ victory over death. It’s a morning filled with life, celebration, and the deep, steady hope that the risen Christ is with us, here in our community and in every part of our lives.
