It was a great privilege to welcome families to our new iSingBlakedown service on Sunday 14th December. Building on an iSingPOP event which was run in the adjacent school by Kirsty Pierson from iSingPOP we are committed to strengthen our relationship with the school as well as offering the children regular involvement in worship. Before the service, children were offered the opportunity to take part in various age related crafts activities ranging from wordsearch, crosswords and creating cone nativity characters for their Christmas trees.Lively worship followed with several songs with actions, and age appropriate telling of the nativity story with points for discussion afterwards and a time for prayer. Please follow the attached link for the full story on the Diocese of Worcester's webpage: https://www.cofe-worcester.org.uk/news/bringing-the-community-together-through-ising-blakedown.php
It’s all been up there since the Victorians built the church during the 1860’s, so we’ve had our money’s worth out of the existing tiles (all 10,000 of them) and laths which are now showing their age. We would like to invite all villagers of all ages to get involved, and to become a part of Blakedown church’s history. We are offering you and your families the opportunity of buying one or a number (as many as you like!)of new hand made roof tiles for the church. You will receive a certificate detailing the number of tiles you’ve bought for the church, and most Importantly you will be able to sign and date the back of each tile that you buy, and so your name will become a living part of the church building for posterity.Hip tiles are £25 each, while standard tiles are £5 eachSo why wait?
