What is Mother's Union?

"Mothers’ Union are the heart and love of the Church."

We are a Christian organisation that has been supporting families worldwide for nearly 150 years. Started by our founder Mary Sumner in 1876 in her local parish, we have grown into an international charity with over 4 million members in 83 countries.

As a Christian membership charity, we demonstrate our faith in action. This happens as we work towards ending poverty, inequality and injustice. Our members work at grassroots level around the world. They bring hope and practical support to millions of people every year through parenting, literacy and community development programmes. As a registered charity in the UK, we campaign at local, national and international levels to bring about real change for gender equality and for the rights of women and girls.

Despite our name, we are an inclusive organisation and we are very proud to have a growing number of men who have joined us.

You're invited to join us in our journey and be a part of something life-changing.

Holy Trinity

You and your family and friends are most welcome to join us for any of the services and events listed on these pages.  We look forward to getting to know you.

We are a liberal catholic congregation within the Church of England, here to serve all the people of Amblecote - those who are already Christians, those of other faiths, and those of none.   Our church building was originally erected for the local glassmaking community.   Nowadays a number of our members come from other church backgrounds and/or other parts of the town, but we are drawn together by our love of the Lord Jesus and a desire to do things well, to the glory of God.    Our worship style is recognisably "high church," enhanced by colour, movement, candlelight, music and often incense, with an emphasis on the Sacraments.   As the hymnwriter says:

    "O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,
    bow down before him, his glory proclaim;
    with gold of obedience and incense of lowliness,
    kneel and adore him - the Lord is his name."

Safeguarding

Our parish of Amblecote is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. Our Diocese of Worcester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO, together with other relevant phone numbers - click the 'Read more' button below for more information.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact our PSO (Elizabeth Walker – 01384 831469) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (Hilary Higton – 07495 060869).

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and the local authority’s children or adult social care services.
