2026 OCTOBER Connected [Download Spread].pdf Download

October is here, bringing autumn colours, shorter days and another packed edition of Connected!

This month, Revd Glyn continues his reflections on discipleship by asking a deceptively simple question: are we still hungry for Jesus? Whether we have been Christians for five years or fifty, he encourages us to keep seeking, learning and growing in faith.

Revd Roy's wonderfully titled You've Got the Wrong Person! takes us in another direction. Inspired by the unexpected experience of singing Charles Wesley's Come, Holy Ghost, Our Hearts Inspire to the tune of a familiar Christmas carol, he reflects on those times when God's plans don't quite match our own expectations.

That musical surprise also sent me (Ivy) down a fascinating rabbit hole! In this month's Story Behind the Hymn, we discover why Wesley's words can be sung to several different tunes – with links so you can listen and choose your favourite.

Closer to home, there's plenty to celebrate. Our parishioners share memories from the Brayton Bonanza, while we go behind the scenes with the volunteers preparing for Rise & Shine at 9. And with Alpha beginning this month, there's still time to come along, ask questions and explore faith for yourself.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to Connected. This month we've been treated to a wonderful collection of photos and stories capturing our life together. Your contributions make these pages truly ours – a place for our community to share, celebrate and stay connected. Please keep them coming!
