Loving God,your Son Jesus Christ came that we might have life and have it abundantly;pour out your blessing upon our nation;where there is illness, bring your healing touch;where there is fear, strengthen us with the knowledge of your presence;where there is uncertainty, build us up in faith;where there is dishonesty, lead us into truth;where there is discord, may we know the harmony of your love;this we ask in Jesus’ name.Amen
This month Revd. Rodger Place shares a poem by Arnold Kellett and implores us not to leave Christ out of Christmas.Tony Service writes about all matters Methodist, and includes a piece about the annual Bridge Walk which this year involved structures in the Selby area. This month we say hello to Pat Jarvis who has been appointed as Churchwarden at St Wilfrid’s (no doubt from a host of applicants) and we mark the soon-to-end period of Revd. Hannah Suekarran’s term as Assistant Curate, also at St Wilfrid’s. We wish them both good wishes for the future.Karl Jarvis provides a helpful update in the hopefully soon reopening of the Parish Hall. The Churchyard Tidying Team are with you on this one Karl! Finally there is news of the St Wilfrid’s Advent Calendar Window Trail that is being organised for the month of December, and I update everyone on the sale of goods by the St Francis & St Wilfrid’s Crafty Folks.
Hello everyone,<div>As you know, Sunday marks the start of Advent in the Church calendar, and as with everything this year, it's going to look a little different. We wanted to find ways to mark this season despite the restrictions we are all living with, and one of those ways is with a calendar of reflections, some written by people from our Parish and others by those further afield, one for each day of Advent.</div><div></div><div>These reflections will be posted on our Facebook page each day, but we have also put them together in a booklet for those of you who would prefer to engage with them that way. The booklet is attached, and we hope and pray that it will be a blessing to you. We are also delivering paper copies of this booklet to those who we know don't have internet access, so that we can all take this journey through Advent together. </div><div></div><div>Advice on printing (saving ink and paper)</div><div>If you want to print the booklet rather than look at it on your computer/phone, you can do so in black and white or colour (there are a few images, but you shouldn't lose too much of the effect by printing in black and white if you want to save ink). If you print from page 2 rather than page 1 then you will also save ink as the cover page is quite dark. To save paper, when you go to print if you select 'layout' and 'print two pages per sheet' then this will use half the amount of paper and the text should still be big enough to read.</div><div> If you are able to print double-sided on your printer that will use even less paper. I hope this helps! </div><div></div><div>with every blessing for this Advent season, </div><div></div><div>Hannah</div><div><div></div><div>The Revd Hannah Suekarran</div></div>
