Palms are blessed, the Gospel account of our Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem is read, and then we process to St Olave's for the 10.30 am Sung Eucharist.

The Eucharist centres on the events of the Last Supper. After the Communion there is a procession to the altar of repose where the Sacrament is placed. It becomes our Gethsemane where a watch of prayer is kept until midnight. The other altars are all stripped bare.

The main service of the day begins with the Liturgy of the Word, culminating in the reading of the Passion from the Gospel of John. Then the Cross is brought into church for veneration, allowing us time and silence to meditate on the mystery of Christ's suffering. Finally there is the opportunity to receive Holy Communion uniting us with our Lord on this solemn day.

A vigil is kept as we listen to Scripture readings. The Easter candle is then lit, and there is the opportunity to renew our baptismal vows, and the first Eucharist of Easter is celebrated.
