Accessibility
A portable ramp is kept in the porch to allow access for wheel chairs, the ramp is not suitable for the majority of electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters as they are too heavy and can fall backwards. There are plans underway for the future to have a proper tarmac gradual slope up to the north door.
There is a fold up wheelchair available if required, please see a sides person.
Members of the church and the PCC have had training on being dementia friendly
The hearing loop is on with the sound system
There is limited parking outside the church in the lay bye. Parking is otherwise on the public road
There are large print hymn books available
There is access to a baby changing portable unit
A defibrillator is kept in the choir vestry for use in an emergency.
Our Building
There are several small windows originally from the 1874 building placed in the north wall of the new building, the others remain in their original positions in the east, west and south walls of the 1874 building. The east and west windows were installed when the new extension was built in 1958. In the past few years there have been three small windows by Ann Sotheran installed.
There is one toilet in the choir vestry, at the moment this is not suitable other than with difficulty for those with access for all needs. Plans are under way to have new toilets installed.
Music and Worship
The church is used for concerts by local choirs
Allen Electronic organ, two manual.
The 10am Tuesday service is according to the Book of Common Prayer..
There is a small adult choir which sings at the Sunday 10am service.
Groups, Courses and Activities
The Bible study group meets once a month on Zoom.
A coffee morning is held once a month on the second Wednesday at 10am in the church.
Help for Visitors
Other Features
Members of the congregation bring food items in tins etc every Sunday and it is taken to the local depot by a team of volunteers.
Also St Mary's supports a local Women's Refuge with clothing, toiletries, food items etc.
