Over 30 trees decorated by local schools, community groups, charities and Priory groups celebrate the season and bring joy to visitors of all ages.

Everyone’s welcome to wonder at the story of the Nativity, told by two of the younger members of the Priory congregation, Roger, the Vicar and more!

If the whole of the service is not necessarily suited suited to younger members then a Sunday School and a creche are available.

There is a Sunday each year when we have a Lifepath commissioning service and another Sunday when it is a Songs of Praise service.

A family-friendly re-telling of the greatest story ever told, with carols and readings and participation from some of the younger members of the congregation.

Featuring the ‘Join the Christmas Story’ nativity scene.

The service is under an hour long, making it ideal for all ages.

A less formal evening service, led by either the Worship Band or the Praise Group, with plenty of opportunity for the congregation to join in. The service includes a short address.

Join the merry band…

…of Christingle-makers in the Priory for a fun-packed hour or two of Christingle manufacture.

Oranges. sweets, raisins, silver foil, red ribbon some cocktail sticks and candles, orange-juice-stickified fingers, the hum of conversation and the satisfaction of boxes of completed Christingles.

No previous experience necessary.

All ages very welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

excitement as children of all ages, families and friends gather in the Priory, eyes shining bright in the candlelight.

So what exactly is ‘Christingle’?

'Christingle' means 'Christ Child' and originates from the Moravian Church.

A symbol of Christianity, Christingles are made from an orange decorated with red tape, sweets or dried fruit and a candle. Each of these different elements has a special meaning, centred on the orange which symbolises the world.

For everyone’s safety, only registered assistance dogs may accompany their owners to these services.

A celebration of Holy Communion, following the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). The service is said, includes a short Reflection, and usually finishes by 12.15. Enjoy some spiritual refreshment in the middle of a busy week.

A traditional service of BCP Evensong, with a psalm, canticles and an anthem sung by the Priory Singers. The service includes a sermon and three congregational hymns.

Celebrating the arrival of the Magi…

…or ‘Wise Men’ to offer their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the Christ child.

A celebration of regal music sung by the Priory Singers, bringing a glorious and fitting finish to the Christmas season.

A sung Communion service, with sermon, using the Common Worship liturgy. Full choir and organ, with some great hymns.All Welcome
