For many families, the loss of a baby is a heartbreak that never truly goes away. Whether a loss happens during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after, the love for that baby remains.

Baby Loss Awareness Week gives families, friends and communities an opportunity to come together, remember, raise awareness and show support to those who have experienced baby loss.

As part of this important week, we will be holding a Wave of Light service on Thursday 15th October 2026 at 7pm at St John the Baptist Church in Felixstowe.

A candle for every baby remembered 🕯️

The Wave of Light is a special opportunity to pause, reflect and remember the babies who were taken from us too soon.

At 7pm, people around the world will light candles in memory of babies who are no longer with us. The candles create a wave of light across different time zones — a beautiful reminder that although these babies may not have had the opportunity to grow up, they are loved, remembered and their lives matter.

Our evening in Felixstowe will be a quiet and welcoming space for reflection. You may wish to light a candle, spend some time in silence, remember your own baby, or simply be there for someone you love.

You don’t have to have the right words

Baby loss can be incredibly difficult to talk about. Sometimes people don’t know what to say, or worry that mentioning a baby might cause more pain.

But remembering matters.

For bereaved parents, knowing that someone else remembers their baby can mean more than words can express. A baby’s life doesn’t become less important because it was short.

This evening is for all babies gone too soon and for everyone who carries their memory.

Everyone is welcome

You don’t need to be a member of the church to attend, and you don’t have to have experienced baby loss personally.

You might be a parent, grandparent, sibling, friend or family member. You might be attending to support somebody else. Or perhaps you simply want to stand alongside bereaved families in your community.
