There’s something special about the hour after school finishes — that moment when children spill out of classrooms full of stories, energy, and the need to unwind. This September, St Edmunds is opening its doors right into that moment with the return of Messy Church: After School Café Church, a monthly gathering designed for children, families, and anyone who enjoys creativity, connection, and a warm welcome. 

Starting 17 September, 3:30–5pm, the church will be buzzing with colour, craft materials, laughter, and the gentle rhythm of people coming together. This month’s theme — Thankfulness (Harvest) — sets the tone beautifully. It’s a chance to pause and notice the good things around us: the changing season, the food we share, the people who make our days brighter.

Messy Church at St Edmunds is about more than crafts. It’s a space where faith is explored through hands‑on creativity, where stories come alive, and where children and adults can learn side by side. There’s no pressure, no formality — just an open invitation to join in, make something, chat, and enjoy being part of a community.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Messy Church without snacks. The session leads gently into Pitstop, where cooked food is served and families can sit down together for a simple, comforting meal. It’s one of those small but meaningful rhythms that helps build connection week by week.
