Valentine’s Day began with a crisp chill in the air, but before long the winter sun broke through, casting a gentle glow over the village. It was the perfect invitation for residents to wrap up warm and make their way to the church for a comforting afternoon of hot chocolate and pancakes.
Inside, the atmosphere was as welcoming as ever. The delicious aroma of freshly cooked pancakes greeted everyone at the door, where our marvellous chefs — Dave, Corrine and Wendy — were already hard at work. They mixed, flipped and served what seemed like an endless supply of golden pancakes, much to the delight of those gathered.
Church filled with neighbours and friends catching up over steaming mugs and warm plates. Traditional toppings of sugar, lemon and syrup were generously shared, sparking the familiar debate over which combination truly reigns supreme.
It was, as always, a pleasure to hear the church alive with conversation and laughter. The gentle hum of friendly chatter was accompanied by the happy energy of a few younger villagers, whose enthusiasm and quick footsteps added to the cheer.
Events like these are a lovely reminder of what makes Poslingford so special — simple pleasures, shared company and a strong sense of community. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who helped organise and run the gathering, and to all who came along to make it such a warm and joyful occasion.
