Here are some questions people ask about getting married in church.
Who can get married in our churches?
YOU CAN, if one of you:
Live or have ever lived in the parish
Were baptised or confirmed in this church
Have ever regularly gone to church here
Have parents who have lived in the parish in your lifetime
Have parents who have ever regularly gone to church here
Have parents or grandparents who were married here
If these don’t apply to you, please speak to us anyway, as it may still be possible to be married in the church, or to arrange a blessing in church after a civil wedding.
Do you have to have been baptised to get married in church?
No
How much does it cost?
A church wedding costs £581 (in 2025)
There are extra costs such as organist fees and bell ringing fees which can be discussed further as they vary in each church.
What if I am divorced?
No two marriage breakups are the same, so depending on the circumstances it may still be possible to get married in church, so please talk to the Vicar.
What happens next?
If you are interested in getting married in church, or just want to know more please phone Revd Catriona on 07525920307 or email her at: [email protected].
The Vicar will arrange to meet with you both, and will also be able to set a date, and then as the day approaches, they will help you to plan the service, hymns, readings, and to prepare for your new life together as husband and wife. There will also be a rehearsal in church, so that you feel prepared for your big day.
Whether your wedding is in church or not, the church thinks marriage is wonderful and important, and will help and support you before your wedding, and all through your life together.
