Christmas Fair in the Church, with all sorts of Christmas crafts and produce to buy. Raffles, refreshments and fun for all the family and for all ages.
Our Christingle service this year is being held early in Advent and once again it will be taking place at St Peters Church, Monks Eleigh.
During this service we are all invited to make a Christingle candle and we will be given parts of it to make up as we go through the service so each person will be given an orange, a band of red tape, 4 sets of sweets and raisins and most importantly a candle which we will light at the end of the service.
This Christingle candle represents God bringing Jesus, the light of the world, to everyone here on earth. So if you feel like having fun and making a Christingle candle with us then please come and be part of the joy which is the Christingle service.
There are 5 Churches within the Monks Eleigh Benefice and each Church takes turns to hold a Sunday Service in their Church. Below is a timetable of the various Church Services throughout this Christmas Period.
On 3rd December 2023 at 10.15am there will be a Christingle Service at Monks Eleigh
On Sunday 10th December at 10.15am there will be a Communion Service at Brent Eleigh
On Sunday 10th December at 6pm there is an Advent Carol Service with a visiting choir at Kettlebaston
On Sunday 17th December at 10.15am there will be a Communion Service at Milden
On Sunday 17th December at 6pm there will be Nine Lessons and Carols at Monks Eleigh
On Sunday 24th December at 10.15am there is a Communion Service at Chelsworth
On Sunday 24th December at 3pm there will be a Crib Service at Milden
On Sunday 24th December at 11.30pm there will be Midnight Communion Service at Brent Eleigh
On Monday 25th December at 10am there will be a Christmas Day Family Service at Monks Eleigh followed by a short Communion Service for those wishing to share bread and wine
Each year Rev Mike runs an Advent Study Course for all those wishing to reflect a bit deeper on the Bible in relation to Advent. This year we will be using 'Mapping the Gospels', material from the Diocese of Norwich.
We have decided to use 'Mapping John' and this course should have appeal for both new and established Christians as it is very broad in its multimedia approach with artwork, poetry, Scripture and music as we map John and his journey through the Holy land.
If you are interested in joining this group which will take place at The Rectory on Tuesday afternoons in Advent (2.30pm to 5pm) from 21st November to 12th December 2023 then please contact Rev Mike Birt on 01449740623 and let him know as he will need to provide you with this very interesting map we will be exploring.
Advent Carol Service featuring the Copt Hall Choir. Seasonal refreshments served afterwards in the adjoining Village Hall.
This is a lovely and very familiar service whereby we follow the Christmas story through 9 Bible readings and Christmas carols.
It is always a rousing and joyous event and is held St Peter's Church, Monks Eleigh (IP7) at 6pm on Sunday 17th December.
Don't miss it. The Church is beautifully decorated and a thrilling space to enjoy the Christmas season.
This is a lunch time gathering for the Benefice of Monks Eleigh whereby we meet on the 3rd THURSDAY of each month at The Chapel during the Winter months.
We aim to share our thoughts on passages from the Bible however during January 2024 and into the new year we plan on using extracts from the book by David Watson on the Holy Spirit.
We bring our own lunches but teas and coffees are provided.
You are most welcome to come and join us and learn and share your thoughts with us.
Thursday 16th November 2023 will be the last 'Food for Thought' for this year. We will continue in 2024 as we have been doing throughout 2023.

At 3pm on Christmas Eve there is a Crib Service mainly geared towards children where the crib is set up with all the characters of the Christmas story. We have some wonderful soft woollen figures knitted by a local person which we use to set up the crib and they are well worth seeing. So join us for a lovely service full of excited children and a lovely crib.
