Safeguarding Sunday Service, with Holy Communion

Occurring
for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Halesworth, St Mary
Address
Steeple End Halesworth Suffolk, IP19 8LL, United Kingdom

At this service we focus on safeguarding, as part of the national Safeguarding Sunday movement. Poster attached. The theme this year is 'Love Protects', rooted in 1 Corinthians 13.

Come and meet our new volunteer safeguarding lead, Philip Hays-Nowak.

Philip says: " Once upon a time, not so very long ago, the principles of safeguarding – rooted in caring for the wellbeing and safety of our young people, for those of us who might be vulnerable, or anyone who might be being harmed – faced a huge challenge. That challenge was silence. The silence that said, “it’s none of my business”. The silence we kept when we feared embarrassment. Silence when we feared retaliation. Silence because “they’re such a nice person, that can’t possibly be happening”. Silence
just because we were afraid. Today, we celebrate safeguarding; we talk openly about it, we talk about risks, we commit to caring about the welfare of others. The more we do that, the more voices we will hear when people are being are being put at risk or being harmed. We will have put a stop to the silence".
