Birds: Song Thrush (singing from 3rd), Blackbird, Robin, Herring Gull, Jackdaw, Wood Pigeon, Wren, Mistle Thrush, Skylark (singing from 5th), Coal Tit, Magpie, Dunnock, Buzzard, Jay, Carrion Crow, Blue Tit, Greenfinch (calling from 17th), Goldfinch, Raven, Great Tit, Chiffchaff (singing 30th).

Plants coming into flower: Smooth (or possibly Prickly) Sow-thistle, Herb Robert (from 3rd); Yew, Potentilla sp. possibly Yellow-flowered Strawberry (Potentilla indica, a well-established Asian species spreading from gardens into the countryside), Navelwort (from 10th); Bluebell (from 20th); Greater Stitchwort (from 21st): Alder (from 24th); Ribwort Plantain (from 30th); Honesty, Ivy (assumed to be Atlantic Ivy being commoner than Common Ivy in Cornwall) (from 31st).

Plants continuing to flower - Primrose, Primula, Dandelion, Hazel, Red Campion, Scentless Mayweed, Heather, Common Dog-violet, Lesser Celandine, Spring Crocus, Camellia, Gorse, Ivy-leaved Toadflax, Hairy Bittercress, Daffodil, Groundsel, Narcissus, Common Field Speedwell, Three-cornered Garlic.

Insects: Common Wasp (6th and 20th); Peacock Butterfly, Red-tailed Bumblebee, White-tailed Bumblebee, Flesh Fly (10th); House Fly, Mining Bee (Andrena sp.) probably Grey-patched Mining Bee (Andrena nitida, visiting Dandelion 17th); Small Tortoiseshell, Nomad Bee (Nomada sp.), Hoverfly (Eristalis pertinax) (24th)
