The Easter bunny arrived at Davidstow Church in the shape of Sarah Green, church warden, armed with a choice of chocolate egg prizes for successful egg hunters. The clues were hidden in a variety of places all round the church: high and low, tucked into notice-boards, behind pews, by stained glass windows, in the pulpit and even on the hymn-board. Around 30 children enjoyed the hunt and many adults joined in too. Even the vicar had a go - although she needed plenty of help to find those hidden clues! Fortunately, a spread of cakes with hot drinks kept the spirits up and hot pasties were tucked into afterwards.
Davidstow held two days of festivities in the parish church at the beginning of December. On theSaturday there were a wide range of stalls selling Christmas gifts, local produce, craft items andcharity raffles. Father Christmas was in attendance in his grotto under a massive fir tree by the belltower. Refreshments were served throughout and a number of musicians played Carols. Theenormous effort led by church warden Sarah raised a much needed sum towards the cost ofinstalling a toilet. On the Sunday, the Christingle was very well attended by young and old as Christmas stories weretold, Christingle oranges lit, Carols sung, and funds raised for the Children’s Society. Thank youone and all for a phenomenal and joyous weekend!
