Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about the life of the Church here in Hawes. We hope you find the information helpful.

We are a Christian church, part of the Church of England, seeking to live our lives with God and share the joy of knowing Him with others. We are on a journey, with a desire to see the Church of Jesus Christ grow throughout Upper Wensleydale through experiencing God’s love and presence in our daily lives.

We are a family of four churches, united as the Benefice of Upper Wensleydale: St Oswald’s in Askrigg, St Matthew’s in Stalling Busk, St Mary and St John in Hardraw, and St Margaret’s in Hawes.

Our prayer and hope is that the Church in Upper Wensleydale will be a place of welcome, love and truth, where we encounter God through His Holy Spirit and enjoy living our lives with Him together.

Safeguarding

At St Margaret’s, Hawes, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and caring church for everyone.

We follow the Church of England’s safeguarding guidance and have a Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) who can offer help and advice.
