Sunday 4th May 2025

This Sunday, 4th May, we find ourselves standing both in the present grace of Eastertide and on the sturdy shoulders of history, as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. It promises to be a joyful and thoughtful gathering — the kind of day where faith and gratitude dance hand-in-hand (perhaps even to the strains of a 1940s tune!).

Our readings from Isaiah 2:1-5 and John 14:23-29 point us to God’s enduring promise of peace — not the fragile treaties of men, but the deep, unshakeable peace that Christ gives to His people. It's a fitting backdrop as we remember the relief, hope and rebuilding that followed those hard-won days of 1945.

After our service, we’ll move into the Church Hall for a bring-and-share lunch — though if your culinary cavalry is otherwise engaged, fret not! You can simply come, enjoy and if you wish, offer a small donation. We'll have 1940s music filling the air, so do come dressed for the part if the spirit moves you — hats, braces and red lipstick are all most welcome!

It’s the perfect Sunday to invite friends, neighbours, and family — to share a story, a meal and above all, the love of Christ.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

Mark
