Sunday 25th May 2025

This Sunday, we find ourselves in the curious and charming corner of the Church calendar known as Rogation Sunday. Derived from the Latin rogare, meaning "to ask," this is the season when, traditionally, the Church would bless the crops, beat the bounds, and—most importantly—ask God’s blessing over the land and labour of our hands. It’s a wonderful reminder that even the most ordinary patch of earth is holy ground when given to God.

The service will be led by the ever-thoughtful Revd. Richard, while I shall have the joy of presiding at Holy Communion. Together we’ll be reflecting on how asking—so simple a thing!—remains at the very heart of faith. In a world that prizes self-sufficiency, Rogation dares to say, “No, we are not our own source.”

This Sunday is a lovely opportunity to invite a friend or neighbour, particularly someone who might feel worn out by the busyness of modern life. So come, friends—bring others, and let us ask together.

With every blessing, Mark
