Sunday 1st June 2025
If ever there were a Sunday to bring a friend—and perhaps a particularly expressive pebble—this is it.
This week is Environmental Sunday, and at our 10.00am Service we’re diving into one of the more startling claims in Scripture: that even the rocks will cry out (Luke 19:40). What might that mean? I'll be reflecting on how this vivid image challenges our attitudes toward the environment and invites us to join in God's ongoing care for the world—not as distant caretakers, but as deeply involved participants. The younger members of our congregation will also be taking part by making homes for their very own pet rocks. (Yes, you read that correctly. Pet rocks are making a comeback and they've never been so theologically relevant.) It promises to be a joyful, thought-provoking and slightly stony celebration.
For those who prefer a quieter start, Revd. Richard will be leading our 8.00am BCP Holy Communion — calm, prayerful and mercifully rock-free.
Bring your families. Bring your neighbours. And if you like, bring a rock. MarkListen and watch services on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@stjohnswoodley
